Catchy tunes from Swiss songwriters
The duo "Wolf Chaps" enriches your event with acoustic folk. In addition to their own compositions, the two musicians also reinterpret some beautiful songs by Swiss singer-songwriters. With vocals, guitar, harmonica and many other instruments Stephan Schuler and Martin Oberholzer play themselves directly into the hearts of your guests. A small but powerful sound system ensures professional acoustics. Look forward to an entertaining, enjoyable and touching musical program.
The two musicians
As the son of a passionate hand organist, Stephan Schuler came into contact with music at an early age. He learned to play the marching drum, then as a young adult discovered other instruments such as keyboard, piano and acoustic guitar and sang in the band "ALTöL" for 18 years. In "Wolf Chaps" Stephan Schuler tells sometimes humorous, sometimes profound, sometimes happy, sometimes sad stories in the dialect of Schwyz.
Martin Oberholzer first heard the music of Mani Matter at the age of ten. He was immediately fascinated by the depth of the lyrics and began to play the songs on the acoustic guitar. Later he discovered blues rock, learned to play the electric guitar and became a guitarist with "ALTöL". On "Wolf Chaps" Martin Oberholzer sings and plays in his own special way mainly songs by Mani Matter as well as other Swiss songs.
The history of the band and its name
"Wolf Chaps" was initially a project in which Martin played blues songs and mani-matter songs together with another musician. Stephan completed the band as third with the Peruvian percussion instrument cajon. When the second musician left, Stephan also started to play snare drum, acoustic guitar and harmonica with "Wolf Chaps". So the band is now just a duo, but still musically as rich as a big formation.
The "wolf" in the band name is a symbol for freedom and wilderness. "Chaps", a term for the leg dresses of the cowboys, stands for campfire romance and for the folk songs that are played on long evenings on the prairie.
