Get a refreshing musical breath of air from the East of Europe to your event! The music of the ensemble "Ostwind" is suitable for hour-long concerts as well as for concert interludes at parties, aperitifs, vernissages and in churches. The music is played without amplifiers. Since the beauty of the sounds is the focus, the formation does not offer background music.

Melodies from the East

Due to the atypical instrumentation, the carefully selected songs sound different from a Balkan combo. The musicians are also not concerned with a traditional rendition of the songs. Rather, they approach the pieces with curiosity, joy of playing and a lot of heart. Sometimes the concert journey is thrillingly upbeat, then light and airy, sometimes melancholy, sometimes cheerful and always atmospheric and highly virtuosic. Wedding dances and round dances from the mountains, drinking and love songs, prayers for peace and street music are played. Stories like that of the sad ox-driver, of the impoverished Roma or of the lad with the pitch-black curls bring to life the great wealth of themes and melodies from the East.

The ensemble

The ensemble "Ostwind" consists of the finely tuned instruments flute, bass flute, guitar and tambura, double bass, accordion and percussion. All six musicians are professionally trained; they play and teach mainly in the canton of Bern.
