"Ostwind" at your event
Bring a refreshing gust of musical air from Eastern Europe to your event! The music of the "Ostwind" ensemble is suitable for hour-long concerts as well as for concertante interludes at parties, aperitifs, vernissages and in churches. The music is played without amplification. Since the focus is on the beauty of the sounds, the ensemble does not offer background music.
Melodies from the East
Due to the atypical instrumentation, the carefully selected songs sound different from those of a Balkan combo. The musicians are also not interested in a traditional rendition of the songs. Instead, they approach the pieces with curiosity, enthusiasm and a lot of heart. Sometimes the concertante journey is rousingly upbeat, then light and airy, sometimes melancholy, sometimes cheerful and always atmospheric and highly virtuosic. Wedding dances and round dances from the mountains, drinking and love songs, prayers for peace and street music are played. Stories such as that of the sad ox-driver, the impoverished Roma or the boy with the jet-black curls bring to life the great wealth of themes and melodies from the East.
The ensemble
The "Ostwind" ensemble consists of the finely tuned instruments flute, bass flute, guitar and tambura, double bass, accordion and percussion. All six musicians are professionally trained; they play and teach mainly in the canton of Bern.
