"Sultans of Swing" consists of six friends from Valais, whose aim is to reproduce the unmistakable Dire Straits sound as accurately as possible. In a first formation, the cover band performed regionally and nationally on countless stages between 2000 and 2006. Since 2010, the band has once again been delighting Dire Straits fans in the country. Offer your guests a unique concert experience with "Sultans of Swing".
Once upon a time in 1978...
At the same time that punk was stirring up the music scene with combative lyrics, out-of-tune guitars and three chords per song, four young men in London recorded a single that sounded very different. Mark Knopfler, David Knopfler, John Illsley and Pick Withers were the names of the four, they called themselves "Dire Straits", and their first hit, "Sultans of Swing", was exactly the opposite of punk: melodic, clean, groovy. Mark Knopfler's unmistakable guitar playing became the band's trademark. Ten years later, Dire Straits was one of the most successful bands in the world with songs like "Money for Nothing", "Walk of Life", "Telegraph Road" and "Romeo & Juliet". In 1993 Mark Knopfler announced the end of the band. The artist released eight more albums as a solo artist.
